Judge's Profile "Who’d have thought that the installation of a central heating system and a chance meeting with a plumber in September 1977 would start a love affair that has continued for 30 years, when what appeared to be a large white tornado leapt out of his van. ‘Sam’ leapt all over me and I was smitten. I was owned by my first Samoyed from a little later in that year and since then I have shown and bred them consistently under the Astutus affix. In 2006 I became joint partner in Glenhusky with Trish Mallord and we currently have the father and daughter team Astutus Moonlight Sonata for Glenhusky and Astutus Buff Beauty, (CC at the British Samoyed Club Ch Show 2007 – Liz Cartlege), and jointly own buffy’s mum – Astutus Caroushka with Penny Roberts. My judging career started in 1984, and I have given C.C.s several times, enjoying each occasion for different reasons – judging at Manchester Championship show in the middle of a gale with chairs blowing into the ring amongst the dogs was interesting to say the least! I have always been very interested in the history of the breed and have all the KC Breed Record Supplements (and previously the old Kennel Gazettes) with registrations going back to the first imports, which I am in the process of putting onto a data base – when I have the time to get to it! When I am not being organised by Buffy and Timber, I teach and am the Special Needs Co-ordinator at the local High School Chris Hale |
